Ever wondered if volunteering really makes a difference?
I got an email the other day titled “Volunteer News | The Difference You’ve Made!”
It landed in my ‘yet to read’ marketing emails inbox. Until someone pointed out some evidence that was in it that made me open the email …
I do pro bono coaching with a select few mission-led organisations, including Springboard Trust. Supporting school leaders to grow their confidence and capability genuinely fills my cup. But volunteering isn’t always easy. You obviously don’t get paid for it, you wonder how much time and energy you can commit to all these different causes. And it can be hard to measure what the impact actually is. With all my work, I often wonder about the ROI for the time, energy and resources I give to it (I do love a good data story).
That’s why I found the new ImpactLab GoodMeasure Report such a rewarding read.
✔️ For every $1 invested, Springboard Trust generated $5.70 in social value
✔️ That’s a 39% increase in return since 2020
✔️ And over $8.9 million of social value created in 2023 alone
Numbers like these remind me that even small contributions can be part of something much bigger. That our collective efforts – time, energy, care – really do matter.
Grateful to be part of this kaupapa (purpose), and encouraged to keep showing up.
Are you an experienced coach who would like to contribute towards some great social outcomes like these?
Te Uru Amokura | Springboard Trust aims to empower school leaders with core leadership skills to thrive in their roles, and to create a ‘tipping point’ in educational leadership across Aotearoa. Through shaping good culture, clear direction, and strong relationships they can support teachers to be effective. This leads to transformation for New Zealand’s young people through improved educational outcomes.
